The Conservative Report is where you can read my opinions and commentary of news, political, and policy issues. I will be analyzing the issues from the perspective of America's First Principles of Liberty, Conservative Principles.
What are the First Principles of Liberty? Good question. The First Principles are:
- Free and Open Markets
- Limited Government
- Individual Liberty
- Traditional American Values
- A Strong National Defense
- Peace through Strength
- Federalism
- The Rule of Law
- Conserving America's Resources
- Environmental Stewardship
- Free Speech
- Religious Liberty
- Personal Responsibility
- Self-Government
For full disclosure to my readers, I was a Fred Thompson supporter and I was very excited to hear that Sen. Thompson joined the Townhall.com columnist team again. I don't necessarily agree with him about John McCain, but that doesn't change the fact that I believe that he was the true conservative in the Republican primary race. From what I could see and hear, Sen. Thompson was the only candidate that truly and visibly ran on the First Principles of Liberty, and I believed that that was the way to "reform" the Republican Party and "change" America (change America the right way). Now you know where I'm coming from.
Note: Reagan ran in '76 and lost (he was about age 65), he ran again in '80 and won. Fred Thompson ran in '08 and lost (he is about age 65), he could run again if McCain loses in 2012 and win.
